Tornadoes, Clouds, and the Water Cycle

Yesterday the big kids did kit 27 of The Young Scientists Club. Since the kits are simple enough for them to just be turned loose with them and ask if they need help, I have no idea exactly which experiments Ani took pictures of.

The experiments they did:

  • mixing hot and cold water
  • putting some water on a plate outside to see how fast it evaporated (didn’t work since the wind blew the plate over, but they knew exactly what would have happened)
  • observing condensation on the outside of a glass from ice on the inside
  • pretending a sponge is a cloud and observing what happens when water fills it completely
  • making rain in a glass using hot water and ice
  • making a cloud in a jar
  • making a water tornado
