Weeks 15 and 16 of school we learned about the Balkans using Layers of Learning, year 2 unit 9.

Each boy picked a famous person from the Balkans to give an oral report on. Cameron chose Nikola Tesla (and had us watch a documentary about him), Fritz picked Aristotle Onassis, and Adrian chose Mother Teresa.

We watched a video tour of the Danube and an… odd, yet talented, dancing group.

We did mapwork.

We made travel brochures. Both Cameron and Adrian put in that a guy we used to do taekwondo with is from the Balkans as one of the reasons people should visit there.

We had a snack of feta cheese and kalamata olives.

We watched a video about Albanian animals.

We watched a couple videos of Greek dancing.

We made a martenitsa doll.
