Zeke Reading

At the beginning of the summer, Zeke was struggling to sound out CVC words. He could not identify initial or ending sounds when he heard a word. He remembered most, but not all, of the sight words he learning in kindergarten. He was really not ready for first grade. After 52 lessons of Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons, he’s reading so well!

Now CVC words are no problem. All the sight words are cemented in his brain. He can identify beginning and ending sounds without issue. He’s learned silent e and some of the exceptions to silent e. He’s learned what happens when two vowels go walking. He’s learned several blends. In short, he’s got reading down and is totally ready for first grade.
