Triggers
You never know what is going to trigger a kid. Zeke went to Ani’s apartment and was watching a movie while she made dinner. We didn’t even think about how the content might affect him. It was Zootopia. It’s made for kids. It’s one of Ani’s favorite movies. But there are drugs and some of the characters go nuts. And that was a huge trigger for my little boy.
DATA
Fritz and Adrian will be going to DATA, a magnet school, next year. They got to go meet with the counselor a few weeks ago and pick out their classes.
Adrian will be doing the computer science pathway. He’ll be taking honors English I combined with AP Human Geography, honors Geometry, honors Physics I, honors Spanish II, and honors Computer Science I. He’ll also be going to iCSI, a two period a day cybersecurity magnet. He’ll need to take PE and maybe art in summer school at some point to be able to fit everything in.
Fritz will be doing the video game design pathway. He’s taking AP English III, honors Algebra II, honors Physics I, AP US History, video game design, 3D modeling and animation, and honors Computer Science I. This means the boys have the potential to be in two classes together. Also, Fritz’s video game design teacher is Mr. Fritz which is kind of awesome.

The Best Parenting Hack Ever
We don’t give our littles electronics very often. Last summer the three older ones got about thirty minutes a day. We’ll do similar this summer. This means getting to use a tablet is a BIG DEAL for them.
So we got the idea to get a Fire just for doctor and dentist appointments. That’s the only time they get to use it. This means they are now excited to go to the doctor AND they are nicely occupied while waiting.
Seriously the best parenting idea we’ve ever had! (Though it doesn’t work for Noah – he’s just not really interested – and Anthony tried to convince us he was sick, and when that didn’t work injured, in order for us to take him to the doctor.)
We got a Nugget
We decided to get the kids a Nugget.
We waited about six weeks for it to arrive.
It was worth the wait.
It’s so much fun as a couch or as whatever else the kids can come up with.
I think we’ll get a couple more of these.
Spurs Game
A while back we went to a Spurs game. We were way up in the nosebleeds. It was a bit uncomfortable climbing all the stairs to get there, but our view of the game was actually really excellent.
We took Adrian through Anthony. They got buy one get one free tickets for good attendance at school. Jamie and I plus my parents went as well.
The Spurs lost, but it was still really fun!
Theraplay
Anthony does a special type of play therapy called Theraplay.
It looks a lot like occupational therapy.
It’s a whole lot of fun for him.
He’s learning how to regulate himself.
Some activities are way up high and some are much more calm and he’s learning how to transition between then.
He’s made so much progress since he started Theraplay last summer!
Meat Restaurant
We took Noah to the Brazilian steakhouse. He loves to eat meat so we wanted to see what he’d do with all that amazing meat. The staff seemed a bit apprehensive when we showed up with a toddler, but they soon were delighted with seeing him sit and eat and eat and eat. He ate SO MUCH meat. He was truly in heaven.
